Your first visit is an evaluation which allows Dr. Barakat to conduct a thorough, detailed study of the bite and jaws. During this visit, Dr. Barakat will discuss your orthodontic needs, her treatment recommendations, and give you an estimated treatment time.
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, every child should have an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. At this point, Dr. Barakat may recommend interceptive treatment for harmful habits or pressing orthodontic problems. More often, a future follow up appointment will be recommended, which will allow her to monitor your child’s dental and facial growth patterns. With proper observation, appropriate treatment can be rendered at an optimum time leading to the best possible orthodontic outcome for your child.
