Dr. Barakat is a Board Certified Orthodontist, an achievement held by only 25% of all orthodontists. It is her mission to practice orthodontics with the highest standards and the latest techniques in the profession. She has been featured in several magazines, including Health and Beauty, I am Modern and Northern Virginia Magazine. Dr. Barakat has been voted "Top Orthodontist" by her peers in Health and Beauty Magazine (2006, 2007, 2008), in The Washingtonian (2009) and Northern Virginia Magazine (2009).

In her free time, Dr. Barakat volunteers at area schools for career day and dental health education, and enjoys spending time with her husband Jerry, and their two children, Hope and Paul.

Dr. Barakat completed her specialty training in Orthodontics at the prestigious Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester, NY, in 1996. She attended the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry in 1990 and received her doctorate of dental surgery (D.D.S.) with honors in 1994. She attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate studies in 1987.

Dr. Barakat regularly participates in continuing education programs to stay current with leading treatment techniques. She has been proudly serving the Northern Virginia area since 1996.
